Our Vision
Leading people to the place of fulfilment of their destinies in God.
Purpose is not something we manufacture. It is something we discover and pursue with God. We want to see people meet Christ, understand who they are, grow their gifts, and live the purpose they were created for.
Who We Are
A church for people becoming who God called them to be.
The FirstWord Church began as an expression of a broader ministry mandate to promote the Kingdom of God through empowerment. Before the church was established, the ministry engaged communities through film shows, village crusades and youth empowerment, including youth centres with libraries in Ife, Modakeke and Ogbomosho.
In 2020, the vision for the church emerged during a period of prayer and Bible study. After further prayer and fasting, Abeokuta was chosen as its home. The first Sunday service was held on 3 July 2022, with 25 people in attendance.
Today we continue that mandate through worship, discipleship, evangelism, community outreach, leadership development and practical expressions of God’s love.

Meet Our Lead Pastor
Pastor Segun Awolowo

Pastor Segun Awolowo is the Lead Pastor of The FirstWord Church, a minister of the Gospel with a longstanding commitment to helping people discover purpose, develop capacity and fulfil God’s assignment for their lives.
Before the church was established, he served for more than 15 years in the small group ministry at Daystar Christian Centre. He is also an entrepreneur and marketplace leader. His ministry reflects a conviction that spiritual growth and practical development should never be separated.
